In a risk-averse society the average individual would be a hermit, but the reality is that this is not the case. Adventure and curiosity are imprinted in our DNA and humans have an innate ability to perceive, internalise and manage risk throughout the course of their lives.

OESAI 2017 – Cape Town, here we come!

This year’s annual conference of the OESAI (Organisation of Eastern and Southern African Insurance) took place in Swakopmund, Namibia between 4-8 September 2016. OESAI was formed in 1973 as a result of initiatives of eight insurance companies in the Eastern and Southern Africa region. Since its inception, the organisation has greatly encouraged and enhanced cooperation in the field of insurance and reinsurance as well as their related activities among companies operating in the region.

   

There’s no limit to the power of relationships

The idea of people-led advertising to drive a company’s image is nothing new. Concepts like personal service, relationship marketing, long-term partnerships and ‘let’s have a conversation’ have become so overused that we hardly even notice or believe them anymore.

The IIG celebrates Women’s Month with an emPOWERing Women’s Day event to DIY for

The IIG held its annual ladies day event on Tuesday, 2 August, at the tranquil and verdant surrounds of The Marion On Nicol boutique hotel. The atmosphere was electric and the beautiful sunny weather was only surpassed by the fashion sense of the 300 gorgeous pastel-coloured ladies in attendance. The emPOWERing ladies day event was made possible by the generous support from our main sponsors Marsh and Sasria and our co-sponsors Hollard, Discovery Insure and Insure Group.

Insurance for Amor House Building Project

In July 2015 for Mandela Day, the IIG Class of 2015 went out to Delmas, Mpumalanga, to help erect two houses for disadvantaged families. The house build was organised and run by Amor, a NPO which runs this project in other parts of the world.

2016 Glasfit Ladies Non-Golf

In celebration of Women’s Month, Glasfit hosted the annual IIG Ladies Non-Golf event at the Creek 9 Mashie Course on 18 August 2016.

The morning saw ladies arriving with their donations of dog/cat food and blankets. All donations are given to animals in distress. The ladies were all excited for some golfing fun in the sun, nine holes were played and the ladies thoroughly enjoyed their chance for casual golfing.

The IIG hosted the annual Past Presidents Luncheon on 25 August 2016 at Olives and Plates (WITS). Gerald van Wyk, deputy president, welcomed the esteemed guests and immediate past president Zuriel Naiker.
