Niche short-term insurers Virseker has come out ahead of the pack in the 2018 South African Customer Satisfaction Index (SAcsi), released by independent marketing consultancy Consulta.
The company, which conducts all its business in Afrikaans, achieved an impressive score of 81.1 (it sits in the ‘other’ category on the Index), beating industry leader Santam (with 80.2), Discovery Insurance and Old Mutual Insure (79.5) and OUTsurance (79.3). The industry average is 77.3, which indicates that the top-performing insurers are getting it right when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Santam lead the race for three years but its score dropped from 81.3 in 2016 to 80.2 last year, while Old Mutual Insure increased its score from 77.7 to 79.5. Discovery Sure, one of the fastest-growing short-term insurers in the country, made an impressive debut on the Index with a score of 79.5. OUTsurance also bettered its score, from 77.3 to 79.3. Auto & General and Hollard both scored below the average, coming in at 75.2 and 71.5 respectively.
