The IYG was formed around four central pillars: skills development, networking, industry exposure and social impact. It aims to nurture key insurance talent and provide a network for youngsters to share experiences with peers and senior management in the industry. The facilitation of impactful learning is key to cultivating skills, ensuring that excellence is retained within the industry.
In 2018, the fledgling initiative allowed IYG members to create relationships with peers, build connections with those higher up on the career ladder, and define their career trajectories (with potential career expansion options being explored through specialisation, further study and professional development), through the hosting of eight exciting events and facilitation of the IYG Mentorship Programme.
The Insurance Young Guns (IYG) Mentorship Programme was born in March 2018. The programme pairs up-and-coming young mentees with mentors in a form of shared peer-to-peer learning.
