South African startup, InvestSure, has been announced as one of the 100 InsurTech’s in the world. The startup secured its spot from over 1000 companies that were reviewed by the FinTech Global panel, a specialist research firm. InvestSure offers the world’s first insurance product that covers shareholders and investors against allegations of mismanagement; fraud and corruption of JSE listed companies.
“We are extremely proud of this achievement and thank the panelists for the recognition. This shows the world that South Africa is a market to watch in the InsurTech industry.” Said Shane Curran, co-founder of InvestSure.
The InsurTech (insurance technology) industry has seen tremendous growth globally and locally in the last two years as startups seek to solve the challenges of traditional insurers and new demands from customers.
The InsurTech100 recognises pioneering companies in this fairly new sector that are transforming the global insurance industry. The list evaluates a range of factors about each company, including:
- Significance of the problem being solved
- Growth in terms of capital raised, revenue, and customer traction
- Innovation of solution
- Potential cost savings, efficiency improvement, and impact on the value chain and/or revenue enhancements generated for clients
- How important it is for insurance executives to know about the company
“To achieve this recognition a few months after celebrating our first anniversary indicates that we are on the right path and are excited to introduce the InvestSure product to new markets” added Mbulelo Mpofana, co-founder of InvestSure.
